IVF with donor egg is a fertility procedure that allows a third party female to provide her eggs for the purpose of assisted reproduction in cases where the woman under treatment is suffering from fertility problems. Once the fertilization has occurred, the resulting embryo is placed into the uterus of the recipient woman who is then able to carry the pregnancy to full term and give birth.
Donor Egg IVF option is available to women who suffer from any of these cases.
Thorough psychological and medical screening is conducted for the egg donor to determine her fitness for being a good donor candidate. This includes an extensive medical history evaluation, several physical tests and an ovarian reserve assessment. Usually women who are chosen as egg donors are healthy females between the age of 21 and 30.
Hormone injections are administered to the egg donor with the purpose of stimulating the production of multiple eggs which are then scheduled to be put through the eggs retrieval procedure once they have reached maturity.
On the day of the retrieval, the egg donor is sedated following which a needle guided by ultrasound is inserted into each mature follicle and the eggs contained within them are sucked out.
These eggs are then fertilized artificially inside the laboratory with the sperm from the recipient male partner.
The resulting embryo is then placed into the uterus of the recipient woman to be carried through the pregnancy term.
