Fallopian Tube Blockage Treatment in Delhi

Fallopian tube

Fallopian tubes are the part of the female reproductive system that connect the uterus and ovaries as it is attached on either of the sides of the body. These are used to transport eggs from the ovaries to the uterus every month during the mensuration cycle.

Fallopian tuber blockage or damaged tubes are one of the common causes of infertility as sperm fertilizes women’s eggs inside its location. Most of the women do not find any symptoms with their damaged or blocked fallopian tubes. The tubal blockage needs to be corrected with the help of surgery as if not done timely, it could lead to difficulty in getting pregnant.

The clearing of fallopian tubes may allow women to get pregnant with IVF (in-vitro fertilization). Over 30% of women face infertility due to blocked fallopian tubes generally known as tubal
infertility, tubal disease, and tubal occlusion. The interference of blocked fallopian tubes prevents the movement of sperm reaching eggs due to its damage affecting the fertility of women. It
requires timely medication and treatment so that pregnancy can take place.

Diagnosis

It is challenging to understand and know about blocked fallopian tubes as sometimes these tubes are obstructed because they can open and close.

To diagnose fallopian tube blockage, several tests and procedures may be used:

  • Hysterosalpingography (HSG): The most commonly used test for diagnosing fallopia tube blockage. It involves injecting a contrast dye into the uterus and fallopian tubes while taking X-ray images. If the tubes are open, the dye will flow freely through them and spill into the abdominal cavity. Blockages or abnormalities will prevent the dye from passing through.
  • Sonohysterography (SHG) or HyCoSy (Hysterosalpingo-Contrast Sonography): Ultrasound is done to assess the openness of fallopian tubes. A contrasting solution is injected into the uterus to visualize the tubes with the help of ultrasound waves. If the dye cannot flow through the fallopian tubes, it indicates a blockage.
  • Laparoscopy: A surgical process to visualize the fallopian tubes directly. In this, a thin tube with a laparoscopy (camera) is inserted into the abdomen through a small incision. It also identifies various other pelvic issues contributing to blockage such as endometriosis or adhesions. It can be combined with tubal surgery to treat the blockage if required.
  • Saline Infusion Sonography (SIS): Like HSG, the condition of fallopian tubes or uterine cavities is assessed with saline solution or ultrasound.
  • Blood Tests: Blood tests ensure various other causes of infertility including fallopian tube blockages such as infections, and hormonal imbalance that are also signs of damaged fallopian tubes.

Treatment

  • Surgical intervention- Laparoscopic surgery is a treatment meant to remove the blockage of fallopian tubes or amend broken or damaged tubes.
  • In vitro fertilization- IVF treatment needs to opt if fallopian tubes are not are severely damaged or surgery is not possible after unsuccessful trials.
Infertility is not a problem, early diagnosis and treatment can help in live your dream of parenthood easily. If you wish to improve your fertility outcome, you need to consult a fertility specialist for fallopian tube blockage.
